Insiders Corner is your chance to get to know the actors a bit better. Every week, one actor will write about themselves and their character, providing you with an insight into the people you see on screen. Gossip, sneak peaks and potential storylines could all be revealed by the actor.
For our first week, and our first ever Insiders Corner, we felt it was only right to treat you to TWO Inside scoops. Firstly, meet the creator, the brains behind the show, Adam Howard. These are his thought on the show ;
Hi, my name is Adam Howard and i am the creator of Broadway Park. Broadway Park has been about 2 years in the making and im thrilled that all the teams hard work has finally come to fruition. We want Broadway Park to be a succesful soap and we believe we have the characters and storylines to make that become a reality.
Many people will look at Broadway Park and see the school as the focal point. This may lead people to think it will be similar to Waterloo Road, or something like Biker Grove or Grange Hill. But i want to assure people that it is nothing like those shows. Broadway Park is a soap opera unlike the shows i just mentioned. We have purposefully made it so that most of the action takes place in the school with the students and teachers. We want to attract a younger audience and setting it in a school, an evironment every teenager can relate to, we think we will hit that target audience. Broadway Park will still follow all the conventions of a soap opera, it will just be aimed at a younger audience.
I have in the past 10 years or so, dabbled in watching almost all of the "big" soaps. I found Emmerdale too boring being set in the country, i felt it restricted the potential of the show. Eastenders and Coronation Street were just too depressing for my liking. I don't like spending my evening's watching a show which occasionally appears to be some sort of competition about which character can have the most depressing back-story. Hollyoaks provided a bit of a silver lining. The storylines were more captivating and life seemed a bit more light-hearter. Although i must admit the characters were very hard to believe and relate to. They just seemed to forced and fake. I finally came to Neighbours. Set in sunny Australia, this was the kind of soap i could relate to. It did have a light-hearted nature to it and i could connect to the characters. The storylines were just as good as Hollyoakes' and it still maintained that gritty soap opera reality. So i decided Broadway Park should be a mix between Hollyoaks and Neighbours as well as adding its own spin on things. I therefore decided Broadway Park, although remaining true to the soap genre, should be light hearted with some comedy integreated to try and capture my target audience.
We have also decided to start with quite a small cast. There will only be 8-10 main characters for the first few weeks. This will enable the audience to connect with these characters and learn about them, without trying to concentrate on 30 new faces. We will build more characters in along the way and within a few months should have a full sized cast.
That is why Broadway Park is as it is. I hope you enjoy the show and you can all appreciate what i have attempted to acheive with some of the storylines and characters.
After that from the Boss, we now have a few words from leading lady Katie Finch, aka Summer Howard. Read on to find out what she thinks of her new venture;

When Adam Howard approached me about being in Broadway Park i had no hesitation in accepting the role. I have done smaller acting parts, ironically in other soaps like Eastenders and Coronation Street and didn't really enjoy it. But Broadway Park seemed different. There is an energy about the production and Adam is so passionate that it left me in little doubt that this was the right choice.
I love the cast and crew as well which is always important. In all honesty i don't think we got a scene actually shot in the first two days of filming. We spent the whole time laughing and giggling at one another. This unfortunately led to the trailer being a little unprofessional as it was somewhat rushed, but i still think it turned out really well and we are all very pleased with it.
Summer is nothing like myself. She is very flirtatious which is quite unnatural for me. She is a bit of a player with the guys and is also bullied, something i thankfully never had to deal with. I do like Summer though. Especially her fashion sense. The props people buy some of the most amazing clothes for me to wear when i play Summer, i love it. I even cheekily got to keep a few things.
Summer is soon to be embrolied in love trouble. She falls for Lukas quite quickly but Jafooli also wants her which proves to be troublesome for the pair of them. Also Summers mum Blanche is trying it on with Lukas, so that is sure to cause sparks to fly when that is revealed. Be prepared for a lot of drama to surround Summer.
